Pharmacotherapeutic monitoring in pregnant patients with diabetes mellitus

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is considered a chronic but non-communicable disease and has become a global epidemic. Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM) is a disease associated with increased insulin resistance during the period when a woman is pregnant. The presence of the pharmacist is important in adherence to medication treatment, mainly because it provides safety to the patient and her baby. This is an integrative literature review (RIL). 13 articles were found that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. It is concluded that the presence of the pharmacist is relevant in adherence to medication treatment, mainly because it provides safety to the patient and her baby; He can analyze the medical prescription and verify that the prescribed medication will not cause harm to both of you. In this sense, there is a need for more studies that show the presence of this professional in monitoring this type of patient, monitoring glycemic values and pharmacological treatment.
