Knowledge about health technology assessment among academics and residents of a university hospital

Health technology assessment (HTA) performs a systematic analysis of properties, providing support to health administrators in applying the results obtained to deepen their understanding of the merits of a health technology. Materials and Methods: Descriptive, cross-sectional, and quantitative study. Conducted with 82 residents from HC-UFPE and 90 students from health and medicine courses at the Recife campus of the Federal University of Pernambuco. Results and Discussion: Reveals a trend of limited knowledge about Health Technology Assessment (HTA) among both undergraduate students and residents. Conclusion: A lack of awareness about Health Technology Assessment among academic residents in the health field was evidenced. It is suggested that further comparative studies be conducted between students at the beginning and end of their undergraduate studies to assess the acquisition of knowledge about HTA over and after this period.
