Effects of early rehabilitation on mobility and functionality in patients after ischemic stroke

Ischemic Stroke is one of the leading causes of acquired disability and mortality worldwide, especially in developing countries. The objective was to analyze the effects of early rehabilitation on the mobility and functionality of patients after Ischemic Stroke. This is a qualitative study, characterized as a literature review, based on the analysis of scientific articles available in the SciELO, LILACS, PubMed, and BVS databases. Articles published between 2018 and 2024, in Portuguese and English, were included. The articles were extracted from well-established scientific journals, such as Neurosciences Journal, Journal of Clinical Medicine, Revista CPAQV, among others. The studies demonstrated significant improvements in the mobility and functionality of patients who underwent early physiotherapeutic intervention, with emphasis on gait recovery, postural balance, and autonomy in activities of daily living. It is concluded that early rehabilitation proved effective in promoting the functional and motor recovery of patients affected by ischemic stroke, contributing to the reduction of physical limitations and the restoration of independence. Furthermore, the implementation of early therapeutic protocols and the expansion of access to neurological physiotherapy are essential strategies to address the disabling consequences of stroke.
