Cryolipolysis in the treatment of localized fat: a case report

Abstract

The present study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of cryolipolysis in reducing localized fat in a selected patient. Cryolipolysis is a non-invasive aesthetic procedure that promotes the reduction of adipose tissue through controlled cooling, inducing adipocyte apoptosis without damaging adjacent tissues. This research is quantitative, descriptive, and based on a case study conducted with a patient who had been previously assessed and selected as suitable for the procedure. Anthropometric measurements, photographic records, and ultrasound examinations were used as evaluation instruments and were performed at baseline, and at 30 and 60 days post-treatment. The results demonstrated a significant reduction in adipose tissue thickness in the treated area, with no complications or adverse effects. An improvement in the patient’s body-image perception and personal satisfaction was also observed. Based on these findings, it is concluded that cryolipolysis is a safe, effective, and satisfactory resource for the treatment of localized lipodystrophy when applied according to proper protocols and respecting contraindications. It is recommended that future studies be conducted with larger samples to strengthen the scientific literature on this topic.
