The influence of information technology on municipal public management: an analysis of the transparency portal

This research aims to analyze the contribution of Information Technology (IT) in optimizing tasks and processes related to the Transparency Portal within a Municipal Government. Considering that, in the administrative routine of a public organization, the progress and fluidity of processes are essential to ensure efficient management, the study seeks to understand how IT has impacted the structure and functionality of the Transparency Portal. The research is classified as qualitative, descriptive, and field-based, with data collected through an interview with the individual responsible for managing the municipal Transparency Portal. Based on the analyses, it is evident that Information Technology is a strategic element in the decision-making process, significantly contributing to the organization and efficiency of public administration. Although IT has brought several advantages to the Transparency Portal—such as increased speed, accessibility, and accuracy in information disclosure—there are also risks associated with the perception that systems operate autonomously. Despite the practicality and ease provided by digital tools, the human factor remains crucial in defining and validating the data that is published.
