The importance of nursing in the fight against câncer

This study discusses the importance of nursing practice in the care, prevention, and follow-up of patients with cancer, with emphasis on scientific evidence published in the last five years. The objective was to analyze the relevance of professional practice in the oncological context, identify its main contributions to preventive and therapeutic processes, and describe the nurse’s role in supporting patients and their families. This topic is addressed due to the increasing incidence of cancer and the need to improve the quality of care provided, highlighting nursing in the promotion of comprehensive and humanized care. This is a descriptive bibliographic study conducted through a review of scientific databases, with previously established inclusion and exclusion criteria. The results demonstrated that nursing plays a fundamental role in symptom control, health education, treatment adherence, emotional support, and the systematization of care, significantly contributing to improved quality of life and clinical outcomes.
