Abstract

Skin aging is associated with reduced fibroblast activity and collagen and elastin synthesis, compromising skin firmness, elasticity, and quality. This randomized clinical trial evaluated the immediate response of skinbooster alone or in combination with dynamic cryolipolysis. Fifty-two individuals, aged between 35 and 60 years, participated and were allocated into two groups: dynamic cryolipolysis + skinbooster (n=24) and skinbooster alone (n=28). The interventions were performed on one hemiface, using the contralateral side as an intra-individual control. The evaluation included the Facial Assessment Protocol (FAP), two-dimensional photographic record, and three-dimensional analysis using the Quantificare LifeViz Infinity® system, with measurement of volume and skin traction, in addition to subjective perception using the Patient Global Impression (PGI). Data were analyzed using SPSS 17.0, expressed as mean ± standard deviation and 95% confidence interval. The Mann-Whitney test was used for comparison between groups, adopting p<0.05, with calculation of the effect size (r). The isolated skinbooster group showed a significantly greater increase in volume than the combined group (2.12 ± 1.53 mL vs. 0.58 ± 2.53 mL; p=0.0002; r= –0.491) and greater skin traction (5.22 ± 2.13 mm vs. 4.60 ± 4.81 mm; p=0.0133; r= –0.332). However, the association with cryolipolysis showed better overall subjective perception. It is concluded that isolated skinbooster promotes a greater immediate impact on the evaluated parameters, showing a significant increase in volume and improvement in skin traction, while cryolipolysis does not potentiate immediate effects, suggesting a possible complementary benefit in integrated facial rejuvenation protocols.
