Advances in telenursing since the covid-19 pandemic in support of people with Alzheimer's and their caregivers

Abstract

Objective: To identify how tele-nursing was used as a resource in the care of individuals with Alzheimer's disease and their caregivers during the Covid-19 pandemic. Method: Integrative literature review through article searches conducted in the following databases: Cumulative Index To Nursing And Allied Health Literature (CINAHL), National Library of Medicine National Institutes of Health (PubMed), Scientific Electronic Library Online (SCIELO), Virtual Health Library (BVS), and Google Scholar. For the discussion, 10 studies conducted in multiple countries from 2019 to 2023 were included. Results: The main roles of telehealth are providing support to elderly individuals with Alzheimer's disease and their caregivers in both home and hospital settings. Conclusion: Tele-nursing during Covid-19 allowed patients to access safer and more efficient healthcare services, providing greater peace of mind for individuals with Alzheimer's disease and their caregivers.
