Aromaterapia clínica como estratégia terapêutica utilizada por enfermeiros no cuidado paliativo

Introduction: Aromatherapy is a therapeutic practice that uses essential oils extracted from plants to promote physical, emotional and mental well-being. These oils are applied in different ways, such as inhalation, massages or compresses, being recognized for their therapeutic properties that help in relieving symptoms. Objective: to analyze the use of clinical aromatherapy as a therapeutic strategy by nurses in palliative care. Methodology: this is an integrative review of descriptive literature with a qualitative approach as the findings obtained in the bibliographic survey will be analyzed and interpreted as well as based on the authors' experience in carrying out the bibliographic review. Results and Discussion: Of the 12 articles selected, 09 studies (75%) were found in the SCIENCEDIRECT database, 01 (8.3%) in the VHL and 02 (16.7%) in PUBMED. Regarding the approach of the studies, 05 studies (41.7%) were classified as systematic reviews, with an exploratory and descriptive qualitative approach, 05 (41.7%) and 02 (16.6%) as meta-analysis. Conclusion: Based on the articles reviewed, it is evident that aromatherapy offers significant benefits both in relieving physical symptoms such as pain, insomnia, and nausea, and in providing emotional support by reducing anxiety, depression, and improving patients' quality of life. in terminal condition.
