Abstract

Mental disorders, such as anxiety and depression, have a high prevalence and are increasing worldwide. Against this backdrop, pharmacists are ideally positioned to play a greater role in supporting people with mental illness. This study seeks to analyze the role of the pharmacist in the patient's mental health. The methodology is a bibliographic review guided by theoretical references. Queries and searches of articles were carried out in the following databases: PubMed, SciELO, VHL and Google Scholar. The results highlight that the role of pharmacists is crucial to improve adherence to treatments and clinical outcomes, also highlighting the importance of their integration into mental health teams. The study concluded that appreciation, continuous training and appreciation policies are crucial to optimize the contribution of pharmacists in mental health care.
