Surgical treatment of oral lymphangioma: clinical case report

Lymphatic malformations (LMs), or lymphangiomas, are benign congenital anomalies of the lymphatic system, often associated with syndromes. Although the diagnosis occurs mainly in childhood, cases in adults are rare. They mainly affect the head, neck and oral cavity, and can cause macroglossia and functional difficulties. This work aims to report a case of diagnosis and treatment of a circumscribed lymphangioma in the tongue region of a 7-year-old patient who had been presenting signs and symptoms for approximately 2 years. The diagnosis was clinical and concluded with the results of an anatomopathological examination. The treatment carried out consisted of surgical excision, and the patient improved significantly after the procedure.
