Efficiency and sustainability in soybean seed production in integrated rural properties

Soybean seed production in integrated rural properties has emerged as a strategic alternative to reconcile productive efficiency with sustainability in agricultural systems. This article presents an integrative literature review of national and international scientific publications aiming to identify the key factors influencing efficiency and sustainability in such production models. A total of 22 studies published between 2008 and 2025 were analyzed, covering different methodological and thematic approaches. The findings indicate that system integration (such as crop-livestock-forestry), adoption of sustainable agronomic practices, use of emerging technologies, and implementation of sustainability indicators are central to improving soybean seed production. However, challenges remain regarding access to technological innovations, technical assistance, and the adoption of socio-environmental certifications. It is concluded that efficiency and sustainability are complementary goals, and that the integration of technical knowledge, innovation, and public policy is essential to strengthen integrated rural properties.
