The civil liability of digital platforms for the dissemination of fake news

This article aims to analyze the civil liability of digital platforms in the face of the dissemination of fake news, a problem that affects fundamental rights and the integrity of social relations among human beings in the virtual environment. The general objective is to verify to what extent these platforms can be held civilly liable for damages resulting from the dissemination and circulation of false content produced by third parties. The research used a literature review, with a qualitative approach and deductive method. In conclusion, strengthening the legislative mechanisms responsible for civil liability can contribute to mitigating the effects of fake news, although advances in regulatory and technological areas are still necessary.
