Academic genres and scientific dissemination: debates and sustainability practices in the semi-arid northeast of Brazil

The semi-arid Northeast region of Brazil presents socio-environmental challenges characterized by water scarcity, social vulnerabilities, and demands for sustainable practices adapted to the local reality. This study investigates the role of academic and scientific dissemination genres in the construction of debates and sustainability practices, considering the existing gap between scientific production and the needs of communities. The objective was to analyze how these genres contribute to bridging theory and practice in the regional context. To this end, an integrative literature review was conducted, encompassing academic articles, technical reports, and scientific dissemination texts published between 2019 and 2025. The analysis highlighted categories related to genre characteristics, communication strategies, and the applicability of information. The results indicate that academic genres consolidate theoretical and methodological knowledge, while scientific dissemination genres broaden the reach of information, making it more accessible to diverse audiences. The study concludes that the effective promotion of sustainability in the semi-arid region depends on the integration of science, language, and the valorization of local knowledge.
