The importance of preventive papa screen examination in women over 30 years of age

Objective: to analyze the importance of the preventive Pap smear test in women over 30 years of age, highlighting the relevance of carrying it out regularly in preventing cervical cancer and promoting women's health. Method: The methodology used was bibliographic review, which involved collecting all previously published works, such as books, magazines, newspapers, theses, among others, on the topic. The research was carried out between January 2023 and May 2023, using keywords such as Women's Health, Papanicolaou, Uterus and SUS in databases such as SciELO, LILACS, MEdline and BDENF. Results: After selecting the final sample, the extracted data was compiled into an electronic spreadsheet and analyzed. The results of this study show evidence that confirms the importance of preventive Pap smears in preventing cervical cancer in women over 30 years of age. Conclusion: Regular Pap smears can identify precursor lesions of cervical cancer and other conditions that affect women's health, such as infections, inflammations and hormonal changes, thus, it is understood that campaigns to promote awareness about the importance of Examination and encouraging regular testing have been successful in reducing the incidence and mortality of cervical cancer, as well as improving women's health and well-being.
